• L. Lawrence Kouba purchased the well drilling business from Mr. Baley after serving in the U.S. Army during World War II. He became interested in well drilling as a teenager while watching Mr. Baley drill a water well on his fathers farm. Following the war, he originally enrolled in Marquette University at attain a degree in engineering. He met his wife-to-be while in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and discovered his career passion was drilling water wells.

• The now Kouba Drilling company purchases the first rotary drilling rig, which was a Schramm T-64 HB Roto-Drill for the substantial (at that time) amount of $67,000. No bank would finance him due to the lack of a track record in the rotary drilling business. He continued to work day and night to pay off his debt within 3 years to Mr. Harry Walker, who was a ruthless money lender and a retired Air Force Colonel.

• The company was incorporated to Kouba Well Drilling, Inc. and then expanded to two drilling rigs
• Kouba Drilling begins providing geothermal drilling services.
• Norwalk, Wisconsin, Municipal Well for the City of Norwalk
• Winneconne, Wisconsin, Municipal Well for the City of Winneconne
• Hillsboro, Wisconsin, completes a large geothermal drilling project for Hillsboro High School
• Daniel L. Kouba purchases Kouba Well Drilling, Inc. from his father and takes the helm.
• Drilled a 16" diameter, 1180' deep well at King's Canyon Wash Plant for Mathy Construction
• Elizabeth, Illinois, completes a large geothermal drilling project for Hanover School
• Kouba Drilling expands further adding an additional drilling rig to the company vehicle fleet.
