Born - June 3, 1951
(Wisconsin Drillers Lic. #376)
Daniel was raised in Hillsboro, Wisconsin, and graduated in 1969 from Hillsboro High School. He attended LaCrosse State University until his passion for well drilling overcame he thoughts of becoming a teacher.
Daniel drilled his first water well under his father Lawrence's watchful eye even before he had
received his drivers license.
In 1970 Dan was issued his drillers license from the Wisconsin Department
of Natural Resources. In 1970 at the age of 21 he was elected to serve on the Board of Directors for the Wisconsin Well Drillers
Association. In 1975 Daniel was elected to the position of President of the Wisconsin Well Drillers Association, the youngest person to be elected at that time in the state of Wisconsin. Dan served a total of
10 years on the board over a three decade period.
Daniel and his wife Maureen Kouba, purchased Kouba Well Drilling from Lawrence and Lois Kouba on July 1, 1996. At that time Lawrence cried, for two reasons, for keeping the the drilling business
within the family
for another generation, and this was the first time Lawrence was ever out of debt.
In 1999 Daniel expanded the drilling company to three drilling
rigs. In 2001 following the 911 tragedy, Local Americans had an
apprehension and over 75 water well orders were cancelled or put off.
Dan decided to diversify and traded his three Schramm T660 drilling rigs for three Schramm
T450 drilling rigs. These rigs were more versatile allowing the company to proceed with full time geothermal well drilling services.
